Anthropologie arrives on S. Beverly!

The recently relocated Anthropologie threw a lil' shin dig last night in honor of their arrival at 211 S. Beverly Dr. Of course us Pretties popped in and we have all the deets. This former office building did a 180 complete with all the shabby chicness of Anthro that we love. The massive two floor shop offers new discoveries on every twist and turn. Each area is adorably themed and is tied together with in the atrium like stairway. The event was very crowded and full of Pretty fashionably dressed shoppers. Hor'dourves were provided by The Farm of Beverly Hills and drinks were from Izze and Rosangel (tequila infused with hibiscus flowers). We loved the cocktails that the Rosangel girls served up; they were very delicious and certainly hit the spot after a day of being Pretty busy. Needless to say seconds were had. As you can see we had so much fun admiring all the Pretty displays!

The new store really measures up! They have the most adorable kitchen accessories ever - even those Russian dolls open up into measuring cups. This Los Angeles tote really caught our attention and is Pretty appropriate given the location. These totes are called "You Are Here" and only the Manhattan and Brooklyn versions are available online. Rude!

The crowd surrounding the Rosangel booth - the cocktails were a complete hit.

For more pics visit Racked LA - we were busy browsing and drinking. Happy shopping!

FYI: the sale section is in the back of the second floor.

Put this in your man's pants

It's time for your BF to throw away his tattered old wallet and welcome in a new generation of hip pocket accessories. J. Fold is the original sports wallet and they'll add a dose of fashion into the pants that need it most.
These high quality wallets are top grain leather and have lots of card slots. This provides organization without the dreaded butt bulk. All of their wallets come in a protective pouch, so if you want to get a couple J. Folds (so you can mix it up on evenings out) then your alternates will rest safely in their case. This aids in keeping the leather in tact when you want to flop back and forth between styles.Encase a full on wallet isn't exactly your thing. The company also makes flat and folding card carriers. Sometimes I use these on nights that call for a tiny purse or clutch and leave my larger bag at home.
There are so many styles in their product assortment, so there is literally something for everyone. J. Fold even makes stylish business card holders, perfect for all of us young professionals. I love the red one so much and unlike other cases this one closes securely because it is implanted with a tiny magnet. Loves it!

So if you're looking for a gift for your guy, or you're a guy and needs a new wallet, check out J. Fold. After all, shouldn't something that holds money be sexy?

J. Fold products can be purchased online or Brick and Mortar, 8350 Santa Monica Blvd WeHo, 90069 or Body Beverly Hills 210 S. Beverly Dr. Beverly Hills, 90212

The new hip hugger

We would like to take this opportunity to insert a fairly large "I told you so!" We're referring to the rise of the fanny pack; it's back and looking hotter than ever. If you recall this trend was reported by my Partner in Pretty earlier this month here.
It's exciting to see that designer Donna Karan was sporting one around the tents during Fashion Week. Her bag looked amazing and complimented her outfit wonderfully.
So, lets start to be honest with ourselves and realize that this is the perfect solution to our over sized and overstuffed purses. A fanny pack carries all the necessities while keeping them neat and organized. Say, perfect for going on a run? Taking our furry friends for a walk? Running errands? Those times when you want to be 'hands free' of a purse?

I bet it's going to be fierce!

Here's a peek at the line the always fierce Christian Siriano is doing for Payless that we told you about last month. His collection of clutches, totes, and hot as hell (we hope!) shoes will range in price from $25 to $45 and will debut at his Bryant Park show on February 19.

As you can see from the sketch above, the line was inspired by Egyptian artifacts. "We started very high, very conceptual and very cool," he says. "I wanted it to be hard and rock-esque."

Our only request? We hope the shoes are comfortable. Both of us Pretties have had some bad experiences with cheaply made Payless heels.

Olive your friends are doing it

We've already mentioned the scary truth about plastic bags, so we wanted to bring you another fashionable solution to eliminate plastic your life. Introducing...Olive smart, their "a new shade of green" in the anti-plastic bag scene. The company was started by two professional Pretties turned moms who share the same passion for helping the planet, hence the birth of Olive smart.
These reusable bags are unique from others that we've seen because they easily fold up into a teeny-tiny bag that fits snug in your cup holder. Perfect for those impromptu grocery trips where you come out with more than you went in for. The Olive Smart bags come in a combination of 6 enduring colors, each with over a 20 lb capacity. The fabric is soft, durable and washable supplex nylon. One Sack, $39, can easily carry a whole cart of groceries. There is also the Olive Smart Half-Sack, a 3 bag ($24) option.

Now with anything that pops out of tiny container, you're probably thinking that it's difficult to put all the bags back in. Well, you're wrong; it's very easy to put all 3 bags back in their Half-Sack pouch after use. The handles are more than large enough to swing over your shoulder and the nylon fabric is super durable and not slippery.

These sacks are easier to reuse than other bags because they come in a petite pouch that fits everywhere. Bulkier options may take up more of your precious space.

We're loving the Olive Smart Sacks and think that they are very Eco-Pretty! The bags are available in two color collections Rainforest (pictured) and Reef.

A political purse

We're all counting down the days till Obama and his fam officially move into the White House. We know the historic inauguration will be celebrated with pretty much anything you can imprint with an Obama image.

However, Armando Javier Designs is taking it a step further and created these one-of-a-kind commemorative clutches. Each bag is made of leather and covered in a collage of news clippings from the day after the election results. No two bags are the same, but they all have similar news clippings on them. These clutches are super stylish and perfect for the hot stuff President lover in your life.

The appropriately titled, Obama bag is available from Armando Javier Design's for $200. Also, check out the site's other purse creations; I absolutely love them all. They have various bags that are all leather and come in unique designs and hues. These are some amazingly innovative purses and perfect for Pretties!

It's lunch time!

We at LA Pretty are serious about lunch time. We're also serious about saving money and with the economy continuing to slip we've noticed a rise in employees bringing in food. We like making smart and savvy choices, we like them even better when their fashionable! So we're excited that we can bring our lunch in vogue with Spring Los Angeles.

The company was started by an LA Pretty who took on the corporate world. She couldn't find a high quality stylish lunch bag, so what did she do? Design her own! Spring LA has some of the cutest designs I've seen. These bags aren't just a pretty face, they mean business. After all they are holding precious and yummy cargo.

Pictured is their medium lunch tote, Peachy Perfection. We think Spring LA is Pretty because:
  • Eco-friendly recycled 10oz canvas exterior is backed with waterproof coating to resist leaking
  • Thick 5mm insulation helps keep cold foods cool and hot foods warm
  • Waterproof and leakproof interior
  • Two 6" x 8" interior pockets are large enough to accomodate most ice packs
  • Magnetic closure front pocket is great for keys, cash, or cellphones
  • Medium size tote is designed with a square bottom so that frozen entrees and plastic containers can lay flat
  • 14" wide at top, 7" wide at bottom, 7" tall, 7" deep (Medium tote size)
We look forward to seeing the Los Angeles based company grow :)

Reduce, Reuse, Retote

Listen up Pretties, plastic bags are bad news and Not Pretty! Most get thrown away and are never reused. Even those bags that to get new life lining your garbage inevitably end up in landfills. Here are some scary facts about your seemingly harmless plastic bags via ReuseableBags.com:
  • Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That comes out to over one million per minute. Billions end up as litter each year.
  • Plastic bags don't biodegrade, they photodegrade - breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest.
  • According to the EPA, over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps are consumed in the U.S. each year.
  • Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food. (Image via MarineBio Blog)

Something must be done! Well, it has been, thanks to high powered duo Target and TerraCycle. The companies teamed up to create a stylish and Eco-friendly bag, the Retote. Made from old Target bags the Retote Reuseable Bag is ideal for those monthly Target shopping sprees; like thoseTarget trips where you go in for toothpaste and end up with a whole basket of goodies. The bag is very durable and I'm confident putting all heavy items in mine.

The Retote is $5.99 and available in Target stores only, not online. Based upon their website reviews, it seems like it's a hot item that's not easy to find. Keep an eye out on your next Target trip or call your local Target stores(we know you visit more than one) to see if they have it in stock.

Remember the Retote: smart shopping that helps the environment stay Pretty.
