Rev your engines to get Motor-Eyes!

If you're pretty much over all the various oscillating and vibrating mascaras then you can join our club. There are so many that we were starting to think companies should just make mascara vibrators so we can all get on with our lives. We were over this whole trend until we tried out Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Mascara. It stays vibrating from the moment that it's untwisted to the second you put it away.

We don't know what magical formulation their using, but it totally works. I'm not sure if it's the vibrations, the brush, the pigment, or the combination of everything, but my lashes were lifted, seperated, and sexed up. Maybe not that sexed up, afterall I was just going to work, but whatever they stayed looking good all day.

Apparently the technology includes a Smooth Volume Complex with non-stick polymers that allow the formula to roll onto lashes clump free. The micro-ColorSpeed pigment wraps around each lash to make it appear thicker. Then a special crystal-clear film former seals in the color and makes the lashes appear bolder and more defined. Along with the vibrations a light gel-polymer base helps lift and curl the lashes. Lastly, lash conditioners give them a soft look, unlike other mascaras that leave that hard lash look.

Whatever your occasion work or play Motor-Eyes Mascara will help you rev your pretty engine.

Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Mascara $32 available online

Banish uneven skin tone with Clinique

What's the first thing you do if you find you have a horrible sunburn? Well, if you're Kim Kardashian, you take a picture of yourself and put it on Twitter, and caption it "PLEASE HELP ME! I am so sunburned! I fell asleep with huge glasses on yesterday! This tan line is not ok!!!" Oh Kim, this is horrible, think of the wrinkles and sunspots! Eek!

Luckily Clinique has just introduced something that you're definitely going to need: a foundation that virtually erases uneven skin tone called Even Better Makeup SPF 15.
Their powerful Even Better Skin Tone Corrector is clinically proven to help visibly treat skin discoloration, and now the experts at Clinique have brought this powerful treatment to a makeup. Yes, laying out in the sun after too many margaritas and falling asleep will make for some ridiculous tanlines, but for years afterwards, the sun damage will cause hyperpigmentation, a common first sign of aging. Acne scarring can also leave you with discolorations that can add years to your face.

This is specifically designed for ladies not wanting just to cover up their sun spots, but also treat them so that they'll eventually fade away. Available in 20 different shades, Even Better Makeup immediately creates smooth, even looking skin tone, while a targeted blend of ingredients help correct the appearance of discoloration over time. A potent, antioxidant cocktail of ingredients consisting of a highly active Vitamin C complex helps correct uneven skin tone with continued use. Also containing ingredients like Vitamin E, mushroom yeast extract, natural grapefruit peel and white birch extracts, Even Better Makeup will banish the appearance of existing uneven skin tone all while helping to prevent further discoloration.

Lucky for you, Kim, you it's available now online or at your local Clinque counter.

Ring in Spring with Bella in Bloom

Spring is here and I'm so happy to celebrate it with Bella il Fiore, makers of pretty much the cutest makeup palettes around, and their new Bella in Bloom pallettes are no exception. All decorated in gorgeous spring flowers, you can't help but feel like the pretty, pretty princess that you are when putting on your makeup. And can we talk about convenience? Since the face pallettes include eyeshadow, blush and glosses, plus applicators for all, no more time is spent hunting around in my purse for that lipstick that I swear was there just this morning. (Btw, have your tried their Double Agent Lip Tints? They are long-wearing and oh so fab. Now if I can just find it...)

The pallette is nice and so slim that it can easily be kept anywhere that's most handy. I keep it on my bookshelp here at Pretty headquarters next to my post-it notes and my unread copy of Photoshop for Dummies so that it's in easy access for those "I woke up too late to put on makeup" mornings. And I love using it before a late afternoon meeting.

Three different face pallettes are available and each come with a matching eye pallette. Belle Jardin is filled with sheer pinks, Tropique has shimmering bronzes, and Papillion is full of rich berry shades. Get them here.

Mr. Right is here!

There are a zillion makeup primers out there and well I haven't tried them all, I've tried quite a few. Most of them ended up being Mr. Right Now. However, Givenchy's Mister Mat is my new Mr. Right. This primer is suitable for all skin types and only a small amount is needed. I wish the primer had SPF in it, but it's so light that when used with a sunscreen or moisturizer beforehand, it doesn't feel like you're wearing too much. After application I use loose powder mineral foundation with a touch of eye makeup and I'm ready to go.

Mister Right aka Mister Mat's secret to velvety smooth skin is that it hydrates with silicone gum extracts. Also, plant extracts work to control sebum production, which provides a long-lasting matte effect that remains light enough to let skin breath. I'm all about letting the skin breath; less really is more. The subtle light-blue pearlescent shimmers counteract a dull look and minimize the appearance of large pores, leaving skin looking bright and glowing with health.

Givenchy's Mister Mat can be used alone or under makeup. It really aids in controlling natural oil and sheen so all that's left is the skin looking pristine.

Siriano now a makeup man?

Mr. Christian Siriano is turning into quite the mogul! In addition to his fierce Fall 2009 line being picked up by Saks and his shoe and purse collection for Payless, our little flat-iron lover is also doing a cosmetics collection for Victoria Secret! Surprised?

As it turns out, Siriano was once a makeup artist working the counter at Bloomingdales, and even had a stint at Sephora, so he knows his way around a makeup brush. His collection includes a black liner, three different neutral lip glosses, a bronzer/highlighter trio and five eye shadow solos seem to echo his Egyptian-inspired collection and will probably be quite popular amongst the fiercest of the fierce. Um, can we call a moratorium on that word, please?

Not yet: one of the eye shadows is named "Gilded Fierce." Find these in stores at the end of summer.

Organic Pharmacy Opening!

As you know we attended the opening of The Organic Pharmacy's first US location in Beverly Hills the other evening. Upon first arriving we were in awe of the amazing smell of the place. We walked around and scoped out the scene - snacks were provided by the farm and bubbly was flowing.

There were a bunch of ladies gathered around a laptop in the back, so of course we had to find out what the fuss was about. The Organic Pharmacy has software which will scan your body for toxins; therefore they can tailor products and skin care treatments to your specific needs. We weren't able to try it out, but it's amazing none the less. In the back behind this small consultation office is their treatment room.

All the action was in the store's front. We took our time going through the various products. The Organic Glam cosmetics seemed to be a popular attraction, of course we had the scoop on those first.
We mingled with Rebecca who works for The Organic Pharmacy, she introduced us to their rose products, hence where the wonderful aroma was emerging. I really can't express how unbelievable all of their products smelled. We were really enthralled with the Antioxidant Face Firming Serum. You only use a few drops of this product in lieu of a night cream on damp skin. Seriously, for hours after I could smell the product which was tested on the outside of my hand. Simply fabulous!
Rebecca also filled us in more on the toxin scan. Apparently, when any of the staff is feeling a bit unwell, they scan themselves and find out where their body needs assistance. Hormone levels also attribute to outcome and can pick up on menstruation cycles and pregnancy. Even an unnamed celebrity was shocked when she got herself scanned and the results picked up on her pregnancy which she hadn't announced to anyone yet, not even her family. That just goes to show that The Organic Pharmacy means business if you're ready to purge your body of toxins and lather only the finest organic products on your face.

With all this talk of being healthy and detoxing we gladly chomped on tiramisu, cheesecake, and champagne along with the rest of the crowd.

Want to have a looksie at My Pretty Pink Box?

Who doesn't? Although I'm talking about the Pretty Pink Box that came in the mail. Yes, yes, get your head of the gutter, My Pretty Pink Box is actually a genius new way to get fabulous new products in the hands of beauty junkies like you. The sampler box gives you a change to enjoy samples, products and special discounts from some wonderful companies. Beauty products are handpicked and include both well-known and up and coming brands.

March's box includes samples from companies like Adure, Body Patisserie, Mary Kay, Eyeko, and Sweet Beauty - a couple samples were full size - and only cost $12! (Though the prices vary from month to month, they are kept low, usually between $10-$15.) And thanks to My Pretty Pink Box, I've just discovered my new favorite mascara!

We already raved about how fabulously makeup artists Brett Freedman prettied up The Office's Jenna Fischer for The Golden Globes. And lo and behold, my Pretty Pink Box contained the one and only The Lash Mascara, deemed "the thickest, blackest mascara on Earth." It's the very same mascara that Freedman used that night! Plus, it was a FULL-SIZE sample of this mascara, something that usually costs $16, a lower price than what the entire sample box would set you back!

When creating this mascara, Freedman took the best parts of all his favorite mascaras and combined them. The mascara is the blackest black that ever blacked I swear, it's that black. Plus I love how fine the brush is so that each lash is coated without them clumping together. It dries easy, resists clumps, and dries to a shiny finish. So perfect!

I can't wait to find out what April's My Pretty Pink Box will have! They sell out quickly, so sign up here.

Happy Caffeine Month!

Happy National Caffeine Awareness Month!

If you voted yes on that non-diet soda the other day or are still recovering from a gay dance party and needed an extra shot in your latte, don't feel bad! It's all in honor of National Caffeine Awareness Month! OK OK...so they're more advocating that you be aware of caffeine and it's potential harmful effects, but whatever if you need a wake me up, then go for it! That's what my furry friend Coffee Cat told me.

In honor of the month DermaQuest hit me with their best shot literally, two of their top products have caffeine in them to wake up boring skin. I tried out the DermaFirm which is supposed to reduce the appearance of cellulite and firm the skin. When testing it out I noticed that it provides a cooling and calming sensation to the skin so you can feel it working. While primping for a night out I glazed on the C-Lipolic Lip Enhancer. The clear gloss makes my lips naturally brighter, although I didn't see as significant a change as the model lips pictured.

So go on and Caffeine it up!

LA Makeup Show rundown

So we spent this past Sunday perusing around the CalMart's penthouse for the LA Makeup Show. This is first time ever that this event was held in LA, but we hope it'll be back, you know because of our awesome entertainment industry and all.

The Makeup Show brought forth lots of makeup enthusiasts from experts to students to us. Our favorite part was visiting each booth and watching the elaborate makeup transformations. It was amazing, especially since the pro-makeup world is adjusting to everything being in HD and IMAX. It's more important than ever that makeup comes out natural looking, because the last thing any celeb wants is dark circles or a blemish to pop up on screen.

We learned a heaping helping of information when talking to vendors about whats new or releasing soon. The economy might be sad right now, but we're thinking many of these pro-lines will be just fine. It was really exciting to see the painted models and we popped in on a few of the instructional seminars that were going on.

This model was at the Makeup Forever area drawing quite the crowd for obvious reasons.
See you next year Makeup Show!

ModlashStarter Kit Winner!

Congrats to Amberleigh in Chantilly, Virginia because you are the winner of the ModLash Starter Kit! Have fun with your Pretty, sexy lashes!!

March Makeup Madness!

Kiehl's mascara simply Marvelous

We've mentioned the icky side of mascara before, so it's a pleasure to read about the lovely Kiehl's introducing their own version, one that's congruous to their reputation of quality and cleanliness. Beauty Counter Blog notes that their new Marvelous Mineral Mascara marks the first time a prestige brand relied on mineral cosmetics for mascara color. We hope this trend continues because it's a damn shame when your eyes get all red and itchy because you were too tired to remove your eye makeup before going to bed.

And leave it to Kiehl's to use a natural thickening agent called Acacia Senegal as a volumizer. Yes, your lashes will be poofed up by a gum derived from the bark of a Sub-Saharan African tree. Desert glam! Jojoba and Aloe Vera are also there to condition your lovely lashes and give them natural-looking length, volume, and a rich, glossy color. Hypoallergenic, paraben-free and fragrance-free, Kiehl's even made sure to use a ultra-soft "tug-free" brush to give your lashes some TLC.

Get it online or at the Kiehl's in Beverly Hills (100 N. Robertson Blvd) or at The Grove.
