Scary nails? Never fear the nail Dr. is here!

Having your nails polished and shined is the perfect way to sass up your look for less. However, if you're like me they tend to get a bit neglected and you end up with that chipped nail polish look that's Not So Pretty.

Luckily, Duri has brought forth Rejuvacote ($12) which you paint on under and over polish. The directions say to paint it on each day for best results. I think just paying attention to your nails each day will make a difference. It's better than a nail hardener because those just make your nails hard. Rejuvacote, which has won an Allure's editor's choice award, makes the nails less prone to breakage and strengthens them all over. I've been using it for a bit and notice that Rejuvacote is excellent when used alone or with polish. So what are you waiting for?

Pas-tel me about it!

We're springing into pastels with Duri's 2009 nail color collection. Just in time for the sexy spring/summer weather we can gave our nails some simple glam at home. These colors are actually a perfect gift for any Pretty in your life that's getting married or celebrating a big anniversary.
The pastel colors add a bit of fancy to your nails, without the color being too bright or overwhelming. Polish colors include: Lily of The Valley, Wedding Vows, Hawaiian Honeymoon, Daddy's Girl, Bridal Bells, and Champagne Bubbles. All sound very lovey dovey.

However for your wild side they have some bolder hues that include: Bachelorette Party, Happily Ever After, Girl Power, Everyday is a Valentine, Sealed with a Kiss, and my personal favorite, Runaway Bride.

Each polish is $5.00

Pink up your makeup without pilfering your purse

If the $32 Vivid Garden face powder from Estee Lauder's Spring Collection is making you think Not in this Economy, we hear you! Even though the Lauder collection has us loving the pink, times are tough. Luckily N.Y.C.'s new Pink Persuasion Collection lets us get Pretty in pink without forcing us to empty our purses.

Their version of the pink face powder, Color Wheel Mosaic Blush Powder, is just as beautiful (and even more so as it comes with a $4.99 price tag!). With two shades called "Pink Berry," and "Pretty in Pink," we love how these colors are so bright and fresh for spring! And for $2.99, you really can't say no to the collection's City Duet Eye Shadow. Spring colors are called "Pink'y Swear" and "Pink Wink." Cute! Each duet has a highlight and contour color to give your eyes and extra Pretty pop! The best part is the duel-ended brush/sponge applicator: the whole thing is worth it just for the brush.

The collection also offers two different ways to pink up your pucker. Two new colors of both their Smooch Proof Long Wearing Lip Color ($4.99) and Kiss Gloss ($2.99) are full of pink including shades like "Pink Punch," "Pink Persuasion," "Posh Pink," and "Pink Flamingo."Add to that two different pink shades ("Pink Poodle" and "Pink Quartz") of their In a New York Minute! Fast Dry Nail Enamel and N.Y.C. is a fabulous inexpensive way to freshen up your makeup for the new season.

Estee's Summer Collection makes you embrace the pink

How girly is Estee Lauder's Vivid Garden Summer Color Collection? There's so much pink here's you'll be thinking you've stepped into a cotton candy factory. Our Pretty pick? The Duo Tone Eye Pencil in Onyx and Pearl. You can always depend on kohl pencil for drama, but also lining your eyes with white is a guaranteed way to brighten them up and make them pop. It's a great 2-in-1 tool to have in your makeup kit to conserve space, plus Estee eye pencils are long-wearing and fantastic.

Valentine's Day manicure time!

Valentine's Day
is coming and we know just the way to Pretty up your fingers and toesies in time for the big day. But how do you find the perfect red?

We also love the Hypnotic Valentine Lacquer kit offered by Nubar. OPI Concept Salon in Studio City

I loved OPI's gray on my nails, and now I'm just kicking myself because I could have had the son of OPI's founder paint it on my toesies for me! Robbie Schaeffer, son of OPI founder George Schaeffer, and his college frat brother Dan Schilleci have opened up ROB|B Salon, an OPI concept salon, in Studio City. I wonder if they had mani/pedi nights during late-night toga parties?

It has a nail bar, six manicure stations, two pedicure stations, three VIP rooms and a room for facials and massages. Who says frat bros don't know how to pamper the ladies?

But get ready to shell out the bucks. There's no description on their website, but they offer something called the "Ultimate Manicure." Hopefully it includes a glass of wine (or maybe a lapdance) because this will set you back a whopping $65! But I'm extremely curious about their "Nail Biter" program - anyone ever try it?

Have a sexy spring fling with essie's new colors!

With names like Eternal Optimist, One of a Kind, and Flawless, I'll know I'll easily be able to shake off the moody winter blues with essie's Spring 2009 Collection.

Taking inspiration from both runways trends and the happy sunshine mood that comes over everyone in the springtime when they finally get to put away their poofy coats, essie came up with some cute colors to give our nails a sexy sparkle.

We Pretties are really into the pinks, but who doesn't need a perfect red? And how sexy is that blue? Loves it!

The pictured colors from left to right are:

Eternal Optomist -- a spiced tea rose

Flawless -- a cherry blossom pink

Status Symbol -- a feisty hot pink

One of a Kind -- a poppy red kiss

Lacquered Up -- a red hot crimson shade

Mesmerize -- a royal va-va blue!

Nail flare affair

Obnoxiously bright nail polish? Yes please! Vivid colors are the best way to jazz up any attire, especially if you have one of those boring jobs where you have to dress conservatively. Luckily us LA Pretties keep it casual in the office. Warning though: LA Girl Flare Nail Polish colors are not for wallflowers.

I personally like having bright colors on my toes and with shades like Spot Light, Hyper, Gleaming, and Electrify to name a few, be ready to let your toes do some talking with courtesy of LA Girl.

Put some Beverly Hills on those Pretty nails

Just in time for awards season, Beverly Hills and essie have teamed up and created Love, Beverly Hills xx, a gorgeous red nail color that shimmers thanks to its special ingredient: 24 karat pure gold.

Love, Beverly Hills xx will be available only for a limited time starting on New Years Day, so you can start your 2009 off right with some good L.A. opulence. But don't worry your Pretty head, this lovely red polish will be available for a modest $18 (which is still a little more than this girl likes to pay).

Get your gray on

I finally checked out the new Sephora by OPI line and it was...nice. I mean it's nail polish, so howcomplicated can it get? Well apparently I was in the wrong because the Los Angeles Times devoted almost half a page in Sunday's Image section (really, it's the best part of the paper all week) to the wonder of gray nail polish.

So of course I had to jump on the bandwagon and got a bottle of gray tritely named Metro Chic. I have to say I was pretty grossed out that I paid $11 for a bottle of nail polish, but I was itching to step outside the Sally Hansen box and get something fancy.

I do have to say I love that it's different, and am also quite taken with the subtle gray of it which turns to purple in certain light. It's not as wannabe goth as black which is refreshing as I'll leave that to my teenage years. It of course goes without saying that this should only be worn on short nails, unless of course it's Halloween.
