My hair puts Redken to the test!

In my life-long journey to control my frizzy hair I decided to put in the pretty penny at CVS and get the Shampoo, Conditioner and Spray Gel from Redken's Fresh Curls. Look at me embracing my curls!

I usually mix and match when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, so I was excited to try out an entire line for the first time and finally follow the "best if used with" bottle directions. Each draws upon an Elasta-Shield Complex that is a combination of Elastapol (which I'm pretty sure is a made up word), Coconut Oil, Oleo-amido, and Protien.

Something I notice about the shampoo is that it doesn't really work itself into a lather very easily. I either have to use more that I'd like and risk build-up and running out of shampoo quickly, or just try to spread it all over even though it doesn't spread that easily. My hair is clean afterwards nonetheless, but it is an odd aspect to the shampoo.

The conditioner works well as well, but I still MUST use a leave-in conditioner afterwards. I was surprised by this as I assumed a conditioner specifically made for curly hair would be strong enough that I wouldn't have to rely on a second-layer of conditioner.

I doubt I'll buy the shampoo/conditioner a second time, but I will keep Curl Boost Anti-Frizz Scrunching Spray Gel as a staple in my bathroom for years to come. I find it's best to use this when my hair is dry and to use it quite liberally. My curls look wonderful afterwards, they bounce, they shine, they curl with a purpose!
