Fekkai's Salon Color (part 1 of 2)

As soon as I posted about Frédéric Fekkai Salon Color, I wanted to color my hair with it ASAP. I needed my Pretty makeover, and I couldn't wait to upgrade my box color.

Like I had mentioned in my previous post, I'm unfortunately a connossieur of box color and have tried most everything since I'd been coloring my hair red in my bathroom since the tender age of 16. Lately I've been partial to L'Oreal Couleur Experte Easy 2-in-1 Color + Highlights because I loved how for $15-20, I could get an all over color and some highlights. But I was ready for an upgrade and paying $30 for a box color made by a celeb stylist was definitely that. And I was especially fortunate as the website says "Available at Frédéric Fekkai Salons and fine retailers" and I happen to live within walking distance of the Beverly Hills salon. So I planned on doing a Pretty makeover that evening after first stopping by the salon to pick up a box. "How convenient" I thought.

Well I was wrong. Because yes, although it says that Salon Color is available at salons, when you finally get to the salon and wait for the receptionist to get off the phone and acknowledge you, she'll look as if you're crazy because, no, they don't carry Frédéric Fekkai Salon Color at Frédéric Fekkai Salons. And yes it makes sense that they wouldn't, why would they as they want you to pay the three to four hundred dollars they charge for an actual salon color? But then when you ask the next logical question "well where do they carry it?" You'll also get no real answer except "um, I think Sephora...or Neiman's??" So it's a no go there. So after after about 10 minutes of waiting I was sent off with an 800 number to their product hotline and a serious change in attitude.

Then I called Bloomingdale's as I remembered it mentioned as one of the retailers and I learned my lesson after this experience to always call first before making the trip. I found that yes, they do carry Salon Color, but at their Sherman Oaks location. And that makes sense, as why would the Bloomingdales in Beverly Hills carry it as it's mere blocks from Frédéric Fekkai's salon and surely you could just get it there? And by this time, I couldn't ask Neimans, because they were closed. So I went home, pouted for a while, and ordered it from drugstore.com. Phew.

So yeah, this stuff better be good and I'll let you know as soon as I get it into my Pretty hands.

I'm waiting on pins and needles! Why would they want to not sell something they thought they wanted to sell? But do tell all! I've become brave, and have started coloring my hair at home. I'd feel slightly better about the whole enterprise if Fekkai sanctioned it!

Ok I am dying to see if this stuff works! Let me know as I hate paying sometime $150 for a hair colour I am not happy with.
