Are neck creams necessary?

It's something you don't think about in your twenties, but you really should: your neck. My grandma and best-selling books agree: the neck never lies. Just flip though our favorite magazine Celebrity Society (it really is the greatest magazine ever) and take a look at those aging Beverly Hills ladies. Even though they've undergone thousands of dollars in plastic surgery, their necks may well resemble the not so Pretty bird pictured above.

Obviously the neck needs attention like sunscreen and a good moisturizer, but I've read that the skin on the neck is thinner than that of the face. Because of this, it's more delicate, sensitive and therefore, needs it's own kind of cream. However, the only places I've read this is on marketing materials for expensive neck creams. Sephora has quite a few choices, all priced between $50-90. Perricone's version goes for $95. Not in this economy!

But is a separate cream really necessary? After all, pretty much every moisturizer and anti-aging serum I own instructs me to apply it to both my face and neck. And as long as I'm making sure to make sure to not neglect my neck, especially when it comes to sunscreen, I'm confident I'll be just fine. Well, as fine as I can be. Other Pretties like Viva Woman, most of the respondents in this great QVC thread, and Beauty Editor all second my doubts about neck creams.

With my bathroom shelves already overcrowded with products, I'm glad I can sacrifice this one.
